Although we’re not living in the US, normally on the 4th of July Michael & I get together with other expat friends and celebrate America! This year, however, on July 4th we were all totally focused on Brazil’s World Cup game. Therefore, we decided to celebrate the 4th of July on Sunday (July 6th) when we celebrated Colt’s birthday – just 1 day before his actual, July 7 birthday, with a patriotic picnic in the park. Although we’re in the dead of winter, the weather was absolutely gorgeous – high 79 and sunny! It was a perfect day to be outside, hanging out and playing games with friends.

I made the tassel-streamers & was bummed when the “guards” told us we weren’t able to hang them from the trees, but we improvised by tying them up to the strollers – thanks to Brett for the genius idea!

I found Colt’s adorable birthday hat on Etsy.

Michael and I made sandwiches, pulled pork, chicken salad, fruit salad and cookies.

Joe made amazing hummus with fresh cut veggies and Paige made the beautiful cupcakes!
