Gigi & Pasha Part 2: Thanksgiving!

This year we were blessed enough to celebrate Thanksgiving in our current home-city, São Paulo, with my parents and amazing friends who feel like family. Shout out to Suzanna Jones who took the lead and organized the amazing evening at Chez Mis – complete with custom-made cinnamon-stick place cards and a customized menu with every Thanksgiving favorite! It was a perfect evening that we’ll never forget!

Gigi & Pasha Part 1: Rio & SP

Over the past few weeks, Culhane has been busy getting lots of special time with lots of special people. A few days after Aunt Lise left, Michael, Culhane and I flew to Jackson, Mississippi to celebrate two of our dear friends getting married – yay Kern & Emily! I’m obviously behind on blogging and will do a post on that trip soon, but right after we got back to São Paulo, my parents arrived for a fabulous 10 day visit! My mom was here for a few weeks right after Culhane was born, but this was my dad’s first visit and his first time meeting his sweet grandson who shares his middle name – McGeever!

My parents arrived in Brazil on November 22. We met them at the São Paulo airport and then all flew together to Rio de Janeiro. We were unlucky with the weather there and it rained every single day so we weren’t able to do the beach or other fun, touristy things, however this did make for lots of extra grandparent-snuggle time with Colt. Also — little known fact about my dad — he is an avid stamp collector so the trip to Rio was actually dual-purpose as the annual international stamp show was happening, so we did that as well.

After a rainy weekend we headed back to São Paulo where we enjoyed beautiful weather, great friends and lots of amazing restaurants.

Day 1 started with lunch at Museu da Casa BrasileraDSC_0222DSC_0231Then a visit to Michael’s office. DSC_0233DSC_0242DSC_0236DSC_0243Finally, we headed across the street to Shopping Iguatemi for some holiday cheer! DSC_0247DSC_0254DSC_0270Outside the mall — Santa and his dog in their rainy-day attire. IMG_4990

We capped off the night with a visit to Hotel Unique for cocktails and beautiful views of the city. DSC_0273DSC_0276DSC_0277DSC_0297DSC_0291DSC_0306DSC_0310

Aunt Lise

On Culhane’s 4 month birthday he received a MAJOR gift – his Aunt Lise came to visit! Lise lives in Phoenix so she hadn’t gotten to meet Colt yet, and although she will be seeing him again over New Years, she just couldn’t wait that long. Lise is an amazing, talented and BUSY doctor, so she didn’t have long to visit, but she still made the trip to be with us Thursday morning through Sunday evening. We were so honored that she would go through all of the time, energy, etc. to come see us and our sweet boy, so we tried to pack in a combination of São Paulo fun + lots of Culhane snuggle time.

Lise arrived Thursday morning and came directly over to meet her nephew.IMG_4799 Next, we met up with Michael for lunch at one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Then for dinner Thursday night, Joe hosted everyone at his apartment for a beautiful meal, complete with a fancy menu! IMG_3451IMG_3452IMG_3464IMG_3458 On Friday morning Lise came over for lots of good, quality Culhane time. IMG_3471IMG_4806 After lots of morning smiles, we headed to the fancy mall in our neighborhood to meet Michael and Joe for lunch. IMG_4809IMG_4810After lunch we walked around the park & Culhane showed off his sweet new shades. IMG_3478Next we cooled off in the apartment and played!DSC_0135DSC_0142DSC_0147 Friday night we headed to our favorite sushi spot, Nagayama, and it was amazing! IMG_3485IMG_4814On Saturday Lise came over for some more quality Culhane time, and then we drove to Bar da Dona Onça in the Centro for a great Brazilian lunch. IMG_3505DSC_0158DSC_0179DSC_0165DSC_0159Saturday night we all took it easy and just headed down the block to dinner at our favorite Italian spot, Sallvattore. IMG_4815On Sunday we took Lise to mass at the beautiful Nossa Senhora cathedral and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the park with friends. It was perfect out! DSC_0191DSC_0199DSC_0216Lise, thank you so much for coming to visit! We had a blast with you and can’t wait to hang out together again next month!

Reunited & It Feels So Good

Last weekend, our family of 3 was split apart as Michael headed to Cabo to celebrate his best bud, Mike Saign, at his bachelor party. So, while Michael was here:IMG_3689

He left on Thursday morning and returned Monday morning, so it was only 4 days, but it felt longer.

On Monday morning, Michael was so ready to get home and see his family. By the time he was getting close to the house, Culhane had been up for a couple of hours and was getting fussy and tired – ready for a nap. I almost sent Michael a message to let him know so that he wouldn’t be disappointed if Colt was crying when he got home, but the second that Michael walked in the door, Colt absolutely LIT UP!

Adorable video of them!!

Colt smiled so big at Michael for the next 2 hours straight and continued to be so happy with him the rest of the day. It almost looked like he wished he was able to laugh because he was smiling so big – like he couldn’t contain it. It was literally the sweetest thing I have ever seen!! IMG_3691 IMG_3710 IMG_3700IMG_3717

Michael’s 31st Birthday!

Culhane and I were so excited to celebrate Michael’s 31st birthday and his 1st birthday as a dad on Monday, September 9th.

We had a busy few days with friends the weekend before and we’re heading out of town this weekend and Michael will be out the next one as well, so we took it pretty easy but had fun together.

Happy birthday to my best friend and the love of my life, Michael Harper!  I can’t wait to celebrate you for the rest of my life. XO

Nana & Papa Harper: The Fasano at the Fazenda Boa Vista

To close out their visit, Sharon and Ollie took Joe, Michael, Colt & me to the Fasano at the Fazenda Boa Vista — an incredible hotel on an even more impressive property.  fasand

We drove out on Friday afternoon and it was only about an hour and a half outside the city, but it felt like a complete and total escape from São Paulo. Everything was so magnificent – I’ve really never been anywhere like it.

Culhane was immediately excited about the room as ours was all set up for him with a beautiful crib, a baby bath and a changing station! DSC_0068DSC_0066DSC_0070

But even with all of these amenities, Culhane still tried to steal our bed! That little rascal! DSC_0150

We spent the weekend relaxing, exploring the property, enjoying the spa, eating great food and soaking up our time together.

Lots of snuggle-time with Culhane. photo 1photo 3

On Saturday night we celebrated Michael’s upcoming 31st birthday (on September 9th) with a surprise cake that had an even more surprising candle / explosive device on top that Sharon had found at the supermarket! It even played music!

DSC_0149IMG_3308DSC_0135IMG_3018DSC_0118It was the perfect setting for us all to enjoy being together for a few final days before Sharon & Ollie headed back to Arizona. It was such a special time and when it came time to say goodbye, Culhane was the saddest one of all!
